The New York Cosmos Blackout Contest: Reblog by the end of July 13th with your favorite Brazil player of all-time and you’re entered to win the new Cosmos ball from Umbro’s Cosmos Blackout Collection, inspired by Carlos Alberto’s experience the night he signed for the New York Cosmos.

The Story: It’s known as the city that never sleeps, but on July 13th, 1977 New York fell into complete darkness as a blackout swept over the entire area, plunging New York City into chaos. By coincidence, legendary Brazilian defender Carlos Alberto Torres was arriving in the city at the same exact time to sign for the New York Cosmos.

We’ve created this fantastic video that brings to life that moment when Carlos Alberto Torres arrived in New York City during the blackout. Narrated by El Capitán himself, it tells the story of the blackout and Carlos Alberto’s first day in New York City.
